How to Descale a Kettle

How to Descale a Kettle

Limescale is a build-up of calcium carbonate, left behind by hard water. It looks dirty, can affect the taste of your tea & coffee and make it less efficient. Limescale attracts limescale and becomes very hard to remove. Follow our steps to descale your kettle easily.

Step 1

Boil Kettle

Fill your kettle up to 75% of its capacity and bring it to the boil.

Step 2

Add White Vinegar

Once the water has boiled, add enough white vinegar to bring the kettle up to its full capacity. Leave the solution in the kettle overnight. Empty the kettle completely, refill with water and boil again. Repeat this step several times.

Step 3

Examine Limescale

Examine where the limescale once existed in the kettle. If some still exists, repeat the above steps until it disappears.
